Kristina Dubrovskaia

Visual artist and art educator exploring color, the human body, and natural forms through oil painting and hands-on art education.

Studio Practice & Art Education

My studio practice explores color through the human body and natural forms. I approach the body as a living, organic structure, studying its curves, folds, gestures, and relationship to the surrounding space. Shells, water, aquatic plants, and other natural structures extend this investigation through patterns of growth, movement, repetition, and change.

Working primarily in oil, I move between close observation and abstraction. I often use limited or unexpected palettes to explore how shifts in hue, temperature, and value change the perception of volume, light, and mood. Some forms remain recognizable, while others dissolve into color and atmosphere. Drawing, watercolor, ink, pastel, and mixed-media studies also support this process.

As an art educator, I bring the same attention to color, form, and materials into my teaching. Working with children, teens, and adults, including students developing portfolios, continually introduces new ways of seeing and informs my own studio practice.
